Low Carb Diet. Best Weight Loss?
Low carb diets work on the knowledge that a diet low in carbohydrates reduces the body’s
insulin production, causing fat and protein (muscle) stores to be used as energy, that is, forcing the body to
eat away at its fat and muscle, hence reducing weight.
Carbohydrates are the energy we require for
exercise or general everyday running around. If the energy is not used up, then the carbohydrate can turn to
fat. Hence the reason for the rage for Low Carb
diets in recent times. This has become all the more prominent with various high protein diets
being advertised in recent times. Some of the best known low carb diets are the Atkins diet (probably the most
famous, by Dr Robert Atkins), the Stillman Diet, Scarsdale Diet, Hollywood Diet, Ketogenic Diet, Zone Diet and
many more.

Many people do lose weight when following a low carb diet, and in some cases they
lose weight fast. That said, most will be disappointed if not shocked to know that using this method, most of
the weight loss does not come from fat reduction, but instead from the loss of water and muscle tissue.
Losing this lean muscle is a major backward step in any permanent weight lose plan. This in turn slows down you
metabolism and your body starts to fight to retain it fat stores, making it harder for you to Lose weight.
Sometimes weight loss is good in the early stages but people cannot handle the restrictions in the longer term
and start to deviate from the diet.
Low carb diets are also likely to encourage yo-yo dieting, cycles of losing and regaining weight, which has been
shown to be a health risk.
It is a necessity that you find a diet that is easy to follow. Some people like the Low carb diets because it easy
to avoid or even limit carbohydrates, but you need to understand how this will affect your fight to burn the fat.
But another fat burning question is, are Low Carb Diets Healthy?
Low carbohydrate diets force the body to use fat as its main energy source. This produces 'ketone bodies' to
fuel parts of the body that can not use fat as an energy source - the brain, and red blood cells, in particular.
Individuals are then said to be in a state of ‘ketosis’, which has been characterised by smelly breath, nausea and
tiredness.
So no we do not believe that the low card diet is healthy. The body is being robbed of essential vitamins and
nutrients, which come from a balanced diet and low carbohydrate diets are not balanced. Many essential nutrients
only come from foods such as fruit, vegetables and grains. These Low carb diets lack the daily
requirement of essential nutrients and could lead to health problems specifically in the kidneys, which become
overworked from the high protein diets, and because most of the daily caloric intake is from meat and diary
products, this can lead to high cholesterol and other related problems It would be strongly advised that anyone
